Copper foil is divided into the following four categories according to the thickness:
Thick copper foil: Thickness>70μm
Conventional thick copper foil: 18μm<Thickness<70μm
Thin copper foil: 12μm<Thickness<18μm
Ultra-thin copper foil: Thickness <12μm
Ultra-thin copper foil is mainly used in lithium batteries. At present, the thickness of the mainstream copper foil in China is 6 μm, and the production progress of 4.5 μm is also accelerating. The thickness of the mainstream copper foil overseas is 8 μm, and the penetration rate of ultra-thin copper foil is slightly lower than that in China.
Due to the limitations of high energy density and high safety development of lithium batteries, copper foil is also progressing towards thinner, microporous, high tensile strength and high elongation.
Copper foil is divided into the following two categories according to different production processes:
Electrolytic copper foil is formed by depositing copper ions in the electrolyte on a smooth rotating stainless steel plate (or titanium plate) circular cathode drum.
Rolled copper foil is generally made of copper ingots as raw materials, and is made by hot pressing, tempering and toughening, scaling, cold rolling, continuous toughening, pickling, calendering and degreasing and drying.
Electrolytic copper foil is widely used in the world, because it has the advantages of low production cost and low technical threshold. It is mainly used in copper clad laminate PCB, FCP and lithium battery related fields, and it is also the mainstream product in the current market; the production of rolled copper foil The cost and technical threshold are high, resulting in a small scale of use, mainly used in flexible copper clad laminates.
Since the folding resistance and modulus of elasticity of rolled copper foil are greater than that of electrolytic copper foil, it is suitable for flexible copper clad boards. Its copper purity (99.9%) is higher than that of electrolytic copper foil (99.89%), and it is smoother than electrolytic copper foil on the rough surface, which is conducive to the rapid transmission of electrical signals.
Main application areas:
1. Electronics manufacturing
Copper foil occupies an important position in the electronics manufacturing industry and is mainly used to produce printed circuit boards (PCB/FPC), capacitors, inductors and other electronic components. With the intelligent development of electronic products, the demand for copper foil will further increase.
2. Solar panels
Solar panels are devices that use solar photovoltaic effects to convert solar energy into electrical energy. With the generalization of global environmental protection requirements, the demand for copper foil will increase dramatically.
3. Automotive electronics
With the intelligent development of the automobile industry, it is equipped with more and more electronic devices, resulting in an increasing demand for copper foil.
